I had a hard time getting to sleep last night. When I did, all I could dream about was Confederate statues being destroyed, racism, down-syndrome babies being aborted in the name of genetic control, husband's cheating on their wives, and children being lied to. Fell asleep about 3am and woke up at 6am and this verse along with the words I am sharing with you came to mind:
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8 KJV
Now I know why God gave us that verse. It isn't about denying that evil and sin exist. It is for lessening the impact it has on our hearts and spirits. It's about strengthen us so that we aren't so effected by the sin around us, that it causes us to fall. I know that when I begin to dwell on all things that are wrong in this world, I lose sight of what is good. I become frustrated and lose focus on God. I focus more on the devil's play. What I find alarming about this is it actually leads to a fine line between righteous anger and unrighteous anger. As a Christian we have the power to control our minds but we still have the flesh to battle which tries to move us to the "dark side" anger. The one that tells us we have to hate.
Here is where the Spirit steps in and says "NO! The Word says you must love. No matter what anyone says or does, you must love." Really? You expect me to love people that hate each other just because of the color of skin? You expect me to love people that can kill babies before they are even born because they might have a "genetic deformity"? You expect me to love the men who cheat and walk out on their family? You expect me to love the people that are lying to their children and sending them straight hell?
"My child, YES! You must because MY LOVE must abound until I return. My children have to be the light in this dark world. When you step into the darkness you have to shine. But many do not. Many choose to love as the world does and not how I love. I AM LOVE and this is what true love is...
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8;13
Unless we meet every aspect of what The Word says love is we are falling short of true love. As God's people we have to step up and be the change. We have to be the light in the darkness not blend in and go unnoticed. The Lord's return is drawing near but our work is not done. We still have lives to impact and a world to spread THE LOVE to.
