Life is...

Life changes and it changes fast. Holding on for the ride can be quite the challenge. You either have the white knuckles or you are relaxed and enjoying the ride. I prefer to enjoy the ride but sometimes I end up in the midst of something that causes the grip to tighten. Often we put ourselves in those situations. Sometimes, it is caused by others. What I have found, no matter which way it is, that we have the choice how we react. We can either fret of the problem or take action to solve it. Sometimes solving it requires bringing it to an end. Not everything we do is meant to last forever. There is a place and time for each and everything in our lives.

Ecclesiastes 3:1–8 (KJV)

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Life sometimes catches us by surprise. Have you ever had something happen that totally turns your world upside down? I think most of us can answer yes to that question! It may take as a long time to get over it or it may be something that motivates us to change something. I truly believe that even in a tragic situation we can overcome if we choose to. I am not saying it is easy. I am just saying it CAN be done. Absolutely no one enjoys misery but so many chose to live in it. Why do you think that is? I think it is because we sell ourselves short of what we can get through. I do know for sure it is mainly because we don’t lean on God like we should. When we don’t have strength, He will give us His. We have to choose to look to Him.

Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Life is beautiful. What do you see when you take the time to open your eyes? We get so caught up in the day to day craziness that we forget to enjoy life. We allow all of these “things” to take over our life causing us to miss out on the true beauty. That old saying “stop and smell the roses” really does mean something. We need to remember to stop and take a look around. I have been guilty of being so busy that I have not enjoyed life or focused on the things the Lord would have me be focused on. It makes me feel sad when sometimes the simple pleasures in life are seen as an annoyance. I hear parents get frustrated because their child asked them to do something with them. In the meantime there are couples who would find that interruption a blessing as they have not been able to have children of their own. I could give you many examples of this. What I want you to see is that life may have its ups and downs but it truly is the most beautiful adventure if we just take the time enjoy it rather than complain about it!

Proverbs 17:22 — A merry heart doeth good [like] a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Ecclesiastes 5:18 — Behold [that] which I have seen: [it is] good and comely [for one] to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it [is] his portion.

Ecclesiastes 5:18 — Behold [that] which I have seen: [it is] good and comely [for one] to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it [is] his portion.

Ecclesiastes 2:24 — [There is] nothing better for a man, [than] that he should eat and drink, and [that] he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it [was] from the hand of God.
