When a lie becomes the truth...

When I was a child I told a classmate that my uncle worked at a particular horse farm that we passed each day on the school bus. That classmate said I was lying. Later than evening, I told my dad what had happened. He said, “If you would have said Ronald Reagan worked there they would have believed you. People often believe lies before they believe the truth.” That has stuck with me all these years except I never really saw just how bad it is until recently.

I have seen it, countless number of times, when someone will simply believe it because someone said it. Our media is the biggest culprit of telling lies. I recently watched this video and it completely made me realize that as humans we are so gullible.

When a lie becomes the truth… can you believe this?

I can’t believe that a simple statement that clearly had false information was so easily believed. Likely it was because these individuals didn’t care much for Donald Trump so it was easy to believe a lie. We are all guilty of believing lies based on our own personal opinion or prejudgments. Never once taking the time or making the effort to validate whether it is truth or a lie.

Even know our country is in the midst of a racial battle due to the media hyper focusing on the black men being killed by police officers. In the meantime, they forget to mention that black people are killing each other at a higher rate than officers ever thought about doing. So this tension being created by our media by bringing fear to black people and fear to police officers has caused the acceleration of trigger finger by the cops and automatically put a black person on edge if they are stopped by an officer. If everyone would just stop, think, talk, and work together this all could be put to an end. But instead we are allowing hatred to build over lies being fed to both sides of this war.

We are even in a presidential election campaign that is full of more lies, hatred, and stubbornness than I have ever seen. I know that I am not very old but this is the saddest one I have ever seen. I don’t remember it ever being such a comical thing. It is more like watching one of those crazy reality shows instead of a professional presidential race. In the middle of it all, is the world believing lies above the truth. We are in for a rough ride because of it!

What I am saying may cause some controversy but that is alright. I have something to say and I am going to say it. We have to stop believing all of these lies and open up our eyes. We are our own worst enemy. We ALL are to blame with the way things are going. We have become an entitled and clueless generation. Our grandparents and even our parents were not this blinded to the world and chaos around them. We have our noses stuck so much in social media and media in general that we forget that there is a real world out there that needs us. We believe it because the “internet” says so. Don’t get me wrong, I am thankful for technology and the good that it can do. What I don’t like is that it is often used for the wrong purpose. We have to be the ones to change that. If more of us would use it to build others up rather than bring them down then we could change the world one person at a time. Yes, there will always be evil because we live in a sin-cursed world, but that doesn’t mean that we stop sharing the truth and being good to others. Everyone needs to know love and kindness even if they don’t want it. It isn’t up to us to choose who receives it. God commanded us to love our enemy and love our neighbor as ourselves. That is the TRUTH. If we would believe it and follow it then this world would be a much better place. Can you do that?

Thessalonians 2:8–14

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
